Homesteading doesn't have to be complicated.
Chickens are by far one of the easiest farm animals to raise.
Start small - but beware - Chicken Math is REAL! You start with 4, and before you know it, you have a dozen little ladies walking around laying eggs.
Gardening - Big or Small, raised beds or in the ground - get your hands in the dirt. Whether you start from seed or support a local grower, planting is a terrific way to be self-sufficient, experience peace, dirt, and joy. Grow tomatoes, cucumbers, or simple heads of gourmet lettuce. Whatever you choose to grow, grow with passion and perseverance.
Honeybees - Nature's pollinators, buzzing about from flower to flower, scooping up bits of pollen, carrying it back to the hive. Having a beehive is an important part of creating a vibrant and healthy garden. Connect with your local beekeeping association or learn about frames, broods, and the Queen by watching YouTube videos or participating in a honey extraction clinic.
Either way, you'll want to have your honey boxes for that sweet, sweet nectar.
Find a hobby that you love to do - or learn something new!
Candle Making, Soap Making, Rendering Beef Tallow, and Incubating Eggs.
There's always something to learn on the homestead.
